Donnie ‘Don’ Conques

Breaux Bridge A rosary will be prayed at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 1, 2023, at Pellerin Funeral Home for Donnie “Don” Earl Conques, 53, who passed away on March 24, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family, after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. 

A visitation will take place at the funeral home in Breaux Bridge on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. 

Deacon Butch Hebert will recite the rosary and do committal prayers at St. Bernard No. 2 Cemetery.

Donnie “Don” Earl Conques was born September 28, 1969, in Lafayette. He honorably served in the United States Navy Reserve from 1989-1997. 

He married his high school sweetheart, Melissa, and had two beautiful children. Don was a hardworking man. Most of his career, he worked as a forklift mechanic working at Daily Equipment, Deepsouth Equipment, and Auto Zone Distribution Center. He also worked as a turbine mechanic at Marine Turbine Technologies and a mechanic and first responder with Youngsville Fire Department. 

He was talented and a perfectionist at his work. Don always would lend a hand to anyone who needed something repaired.

Don was an excellent husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He enjoyed many things like flying RC helicopters, airplanes and drones, his RC cars, trucks and boats, playing Dungeon Siege and using his flight simulator. He loved going to the movies, eating out, and making people laugh with his hilarious jokes. Don cherished his time most with his family and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by wife of 33 years, Melissa Daigle Conques; daughter Megan Conques; son David Conques (Victoria); grandchildren, Eloise Conques and one on the way, and Eli Conques; sister, Dorla Conques; brother, Gerald Conques; in-laws, Raymond and Verna Daigle; and his “little furball,” Grace Conques.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Carroll Conques and Gloria Guidry Conques; brother, Edward Conques; and sister, Carolyn Irwin. 

Pallbearers will be Bryce Wyble, Jacob Duhon, Randol Knott, Byron Knott, Brandon Daigle, and Braylon Daigle.

Honorary pallbearers will be David Conques, Gerald Conques and Scott Daigle.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Panelli and everyone at the Cancer Center, Dr. Anderson and everyone at Cyberknife and Hope Hospice for the care provided to Donnie.
