Cecilia – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 p.m. on Wednesday, December 9, 2020, at St. Joseph Catholic Church for Florence Dupuis Richard, 79, who passed away on Sunday, December 6, 2020, at her residence.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 3:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Tuesday and continue on Wednesday at 9 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.
A rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. on Tuesday by Brandon Bergeron.
Rev. Lloyd F. Benoit will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Interment will follow at St. John Francis Regis Cemetery in Arnaudville.
Florence Ann Richard was born on December 25, 1940. She was a native and resident of Arnaudville, La. and a devout Catholic, whose passion and unconditional love was her family.
Flo was one of six daughters to Clement and Estelle Tauzin Dupuis, a mother of three boys and three girls, a grandmother to 16 and a great-grandmother to 19.
She was also a business partner, aka “The Boss,” with her husband in construction and farming. Flo enjoyed hot coffee, beignets and good jokes. Her wit and passion for laughter would put a smile on anyone’s face. She always enjoyed the simple things in life and used laughter as her medicine.
Flo was one of the best and unique cooks, who could whip up anything from scratch, whether it was for her family or a large crowd, there was always plenty. She loved her yard clean and enjoyed yard work. Flo was quick and extraordinary in all that she did. She was a classy woman, who put others needs before her own.
On October 13, 1969, Florence and Daniel lost their beloved daughter, Dawn Michelle, who was their 7th child. Can you imagine her comfort and joy in their heavenly reunion.
She is survived by her lifelong partner and husband of 63 years, Daniel Richard Sr.; sons, Wilfred (Stephanie) Richard, Mickey (Colleen) Richard and Daniel (Denise) Richard Jr.; daughters, Jennifer Melancon, Mona Bergeron and Stacie (Neal) Hebert; 16 grandchildren, Kyle (Dawn) Stutes, Dawn (Brian) Gibson, Lauren (Chuck) Oge, Michelle Bergeron, Dr. Kendal (Alan) Slindee, Tyler (Carly) Stutes, Julia (Dr. Greg) Verlander, Kristopher (Heidi) Richard, Nicole (Cory) Vincent, Dr. Lindsey (Chip) Landry, Brodie (Kayla Frederick) Richard, Lainey (Josh) Fontenot, Michael Richard, Brandon (Jessica) Bergeron, Landon (Avery Andrus) Richard and Keeley Richard; 19 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Sherline Dore and Joline Dekerlegand.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Dawn Michelle Richard; son-in-law, Kris Melancon; parents, Clement Dupuis and Estelle Dupuis; sisters, Eula Mae (George) Addison, Grace (Gervais) Taylor and Ethel LeBlanc; brothers-in-law, Henry Dore, Lloyd Dekerlegand, Abraham Lejeune, Dorphey Romero, Lawrence (Gloria) Richard Jr. and Bob Klinglesmith; sister-in-law, Dr. Mary Ann Richard; and in-laws, Wilma and Lawrence Richard Sr.
Pallbearers will be Kyle Stutes, Tyler Stutes, Kristopher Richard, Brodie Richard, Michael Richard, Brandon Bergeron and Landon Richard.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to Hospice of Acadiana.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Hospice of Acadiana, especially Alyson Champagne and Carol Jackson.
