Frederick ‘Fred’ LaPorte

Arnaudville – Funeral services will be held Friday, February 26, 2021, at an 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Francis Regis Catholic Church for Frederick “Fred” LaPorte, 77, who passed away Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at his residence in Breaux Bridge.
Interment will be in St. Francis Regis Cemetery in Arnaudville. The Rev. Travis Abadie, pastor of St. Francis Regis Catholic Church, will officiate at the services.
Musical selections will be provided by Debbie Leblanc, accompanied by Phyllis Simar on the organ. The songs will be Amazing Grace, The Old Rugged Cross, One Bread, One Body, Here I Am Lord, Battle Hymn of the Republic, and May The Angels Be Your Guide.
Mr. LaPorte was a native of Arnaudville and a resident of Breaux Bridge. He was employed in Manufacturing and Construction having worked with various companies throughout the years such as: Butcher Manufacturing, Alumawall, Water King and Dove Environmental in which he retired after 40 years of service.
A devout Catholic, he was a current parishioner of St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge and previously of St. Francis Regis Catholic Church where he served as Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist and served as an Usher.
A veteran of the military, Fred proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, having served during the Vietnam War from 1962 to 1966 and the Reserves from 1966 to 1968.
Fred thoroughly enjoyed his Cajun heritage and loved to eat, especially crawfish. He was an avid football fan and enjoyed watching the New Orleans Saints, LSU, Pittsburg Steelers and Cecilia High School. In his spare time, he enjoyed anything National Geographic, Astrology, sudoku, and other computer games. He was a man of his word and had a larger than life personality. Above all, his favorite times were spent with his family and grandchildren. His legacy of love and devotion will live on in the hearts of his family.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, the former Sandra Begnaud; his daughter, Myra Boudreaux and her husband Joey of Breaux Bridge; four grandchildren, Ty Boudreaux, Scotty Boudreaux, Tanner Boudreaux and Tad Boudreaux; five great-grandchildren, Abigail Boudreaux, Mason Boudreaux, Chandler Boudreaux, Lincoln Boudreaux and Wesley Boudreaux; four brothers, Lloyd Pierre LaPorte and his wife Arlene of Tucson, Ariz., Pierre LaPorte Jr. and his wife Jeanne of Highland, Texas, Lee Roy LaPorte of Arnaudville and Carroll LaPorte of Arnaudville; one sister-in-law, Jeanette LaPorte of Arnuadville; and 21e nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Pierre LaPorte Sr. and the former Cecile Frederick; three brothers, Eric LaPorte, Harry Patrick LaPorte and his wife Norma, and Marvin LaPorte; and two sisters, Rita Mae LaPorte Kidder and Janice LaPorte.
A rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m. Thursday and continue from 9 a.m. until service time on Friday.
Pallbearers will be Joey Boudreaux, Ty Boudreaux, Scotty Boudreaux, Tanner Boudreaux, Tad Boudreaux and Kurt LaPorte.
