Hazel ‘Ta Ta’ Johnson

Breaux Bridge – A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 22, 2021, at St. Bernard Catholic Church for Hazel “Ta Ta” Johnson, 98, who passed away on Friday, March 19, 2021, at her residence surrounded by her family.
Visiting hours were observed at the funeral home from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Sunday, and continued on Monday from 8 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.
A rosary was prayed at 7 p.m. on Sunday by Deacon Butch Hebert.
Rev. Blake Dubroc officiated at the Mass of Christian Burial. Readings were read by Nicole Touchette and Shalynn Laviolette.
Interment followed at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 1 in Breaux Bridge.
Hazel, affectionally known to many as Mommit, was a member of the Crawfish Campers Association. She enjoyed camping, doing puzzles, playing cards, listening to French music, baking and quilting.
She is survived by her two sons, Steve Johnson (Elaine) of Breaux Bridge and Paul Johnson (Gale) of Mire; daughters, Verlie Theriot (Leroy) of Breaux Bridge and Elaine Thibodeaux of Breaux Bridge; 11 grandchildren, Debbie Thibodeaux, Sandie Thibodeaux, Vickie Barilleaux (Greg), Ricky Thibodeaux (Cindy), Kevin Thibodeaux, Karen Girouard (Hank), Helen Baudion (Gerard), Richard Theriot, Shaun Johnson (Temesha), Abby Johnson and Troy Jonson (Myia); 21 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbert Johnson; parents, Theobald and Ada Degeyter Hebert; brother, Clovis LeBlanc; sister, Isabelle LeBlanc; son-in-law, Wilbert “Papit” Thibodeaux; granddaughter, Laura T. White; great-grandchild, Katy Thibodeaux; and infant Helen Johnson.
Pallbearers were Troy Johnson, Steve Johnson, Shaun Johnson, Kevin Thibodeaux, Richard Theriot and Paul Johnson.
Honorary pallbearer was Ricky Thibodeaux.
The family would like to express their gratitude to NSI Hospice for their love and compassion given to Mommit during her illness.
Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge was in charge of arrangements.
