Herman Matthew Tyler

St. Martinville – A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Mr. Herman Matthew Tyler, 91, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 29, 2023, at Notre Dame Catholic Church Gary Street, St. Martinville,.

Interment will be private.

A gathering of family and friends will be from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday at Notre Dame Catholic Church with a rosary to be recited at 9 a.m.

A native and resident of Saint Martinville, he  passed at 8:45 a.m. on Friday, April 21, 2023, at his  residence following a brief illness.

He  was a member of Notre Dame Catholic Church where he served as an usher.

He  was also a former member of the Knights of Peter Claver Council No. 54 of St. Martinville.Lastly, he was a member of the Men of Distinction Mardi Gras Club.

He  leaves to cherish his memory two daughters, Wesla Olivier of New Iberia and Hermanette George (Jonas) of St. Martinville; one sister, Willie Mae Joseph of Houston, Texas; nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He  was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Etienne Tyler; his parents, Wesley Tyler and Calvina Houston Tyler; one son, Kenneth Tyler; one daughter, Laura Glover; one sister, Dorothy T. Berard; and three brothers, Alston Tyler, Alvin Tyler and Ivan Tyler.

Active Pallbearers will be Sheldon Hypolite, Radonda Beauchamp,Tyler Olivier, Kenney Tyler, Jaylen Jones and Jasper Tyler.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Kendrick Tyler, Jonas George, Michael Etienne, Raymond Joseph, Michael Joseph, Christopher Joseph and Norman Tyler.
