Jerry Dale Guidry

Scott - Funeral Services were held at an 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, December 30, 2023 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Scott, La. for Jerry D. Guidry, 82, who passed away in peace at home in Scott, La. on Tuesday, December 26, 2023. The family requests visitation be held on Saturday at 8:30 a.m. until time of service in Martin & Castille’s SCOTT location. The Rosary was recited at 10 a.m. on Saturday in the funeral home.

The Reverend Gilbert J. Dutel was the Celebrant of the Mass and conducted the funeral services, as well as lead the Rosary.  

Interment took place in Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery in Scott, La.  

Mr. Guidry was a resident of Scott; a self-made man who was successful at every business venture he embarked upon and known as a sharp dressed man as well as a perfectionist. He was a State Licensed Plumber that was applauded for his meticulous work that was classified as textbook worthy to teach others. He became a Cosmetologist with one of the highest scores achievable. As a Louisiana Real Estate Agent and Broker he was in the $10 million dollar sales club three years in a row which at the time was based on all the Agents of the area. He was known for his successful businesses such as The Sugar Shack, Heads & Threads, Crawfish Town USA, and Guidry & Co. Real Estate. His Real Estate deals brought him notoriety when he developed the Southeast Corner of the Breaux Bridge Exit where he is credited for creating enough traffic to warrant an expansion from a two lane to a Five-lane State Highway. He married the love of his life, his “Honey Wife”, Jeni Guidry where he finally became a happy & peaceful man. Although he never had children of his own, he was adored by many that credited him with the wisdom that changed their life for the better. He was known for helping others.  

He leaves to mourn his “Honey Wife”, Jeni Guidry; his sister, Jeanne “Bobbie” Legnon; his brother, Wayland Guidry and his wife Sissy; his sister-in-law, Helen Guidry; his mother-in-law, Florence Malorin; his Godchildren, Kevin, Rachel & Charlie and so many that thought of him as their father and/or mentor; especially Toot, Michelle Robbins, Billy, Denny, Rambo & Maggie.    

He was preceded in death by his parents, Amithilde & Libbon Guidry; and dear friends, Mildridge & Lloyd Guidry; his brother, Leroy Guidry; his brother-in-law, Henry Legnon; his sister, Judy Guidry; his father-in-law, Wilbert Roger; and his Godchild-nephew, Brian Whittington.
