John Scott Boggs

St. Martinville – It is with heavy hearts that the family of John Scott Boggs announces his  death. Scott passed away on April 25, 2022, at his  residence after a brief battle with cancer. He  was 63  years old.

A memorial will be held on Thursday, April 28 at 10 a.m. at the Parks Baptist Church. Brother Robert Burdeaux will officiate the service.

lnurnment will be  at a later date.

Scott was born on July 4,1958, the eighth of 11 children born to Francis and Marion Guirard Boggs. He  grew up in St. Martinville in a neighborhood across the bayou known as Pinaudville. It is there that he, his  siblings, and the neighborhood friends created many lasting childhood memories. He  was a graduate of the class of 1976 at St. Martinville High School.

The majority of Scott’s career involved building something. He  was owner of a construction company which built climate controlled storage buildings in Louisiana, Texas and Mississippi. He  also worked alongside his  brother, Patrick, and his  nephews installing metal roofs and canopies and building metal buildings. His  last career involved construction of wooden house shutters as he worked with several of his brothers for Lafayette Shutters in Coteau.

In each of these endeavors, Scott was a perfectionist. He took great pride in completing the job in a perfect manner.

Scott was a selfless man who was always available to help family and friends who needed. He enjoyed the simple things in life ... hunting, fishing, growing tomatoes in his  annual garden. He  loved watching golf and the old Westerns on television;his daily visits with Todd, Angel, Aiden, Ambree, Craig and Joe were a big part of his  life as well! He  was a man of few words who lived his  life without asking for much.

Scott is survived by  his  daughter, Kylie B. Sanches and her husband Brian; and three grandchildren, Charlee, Cole and Chase, all of Orange, Texas; his siblings, James “Jimmy,” William “Billy’’ (Sharon), Colleen B. Willis (Matt), Francis Jr. “Tance” (Nona), Carl Peter (Brenda), Jeffrey Joseph “Jody’’ (Carla), Patrick (Patty), and Ann Margaret B. Romero (David); his sister-in-law, Marilyn G. Boggs; his longtime friend and companion, Sharon Champagne and her family, Todd, Angel, Aiden and Ambree Champagne; Daisy, his loyal rat terrier; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his older brothers, Michael ”Mike” and Charles “Chuck,” and a niece, Kayla Rae  Boggs.

The family would like to thank Hospice of Acadiana and his nurse, Alyson E. Champagne, who provided great care and compassion to him and the family during his illness.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice of Acadiana can be made.
