Kenneth James Chastant, a beloved soul, departed from this world at Our Lady of Lourdes in Lafayette, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and humor.

Throughout his years, Kenneth touched the lives of many with his warm heart and infectious laughter. His passion for LSU and the Saints football was unwavering, bringing him immense joy during game days. In his spare time, he enjoyed going to the casino. However, it was in the walls of the church where Kenneth truly found peace, grounding himself in faith and community as an usher at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church.

Kenneth’s love extended not only to sports and leisurely pursuits but also to his furry companions - Chawee and Precious Ann - who brought him comfort and companionship through the years. Yet perhaps his greatest source of happiness came from being surrounded by family and friends, especially his cherished godchildren whom he adored beyond measure.

Among his proudest accomplishments was his dedication to various groups such as the Woodman of the World and the St. Martinville Quarterback Club. His commitment to service and camaraderie enriched the lives of those around him, leaving a lasting impact on his community.

Interment followed at St. Michael Mausoleum.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Chastant, who went above and beyond to stand by his side thru his sickness and health challenges, and took stellar care of him unwaveringly.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Leona Mae Chastant; brother, Karl W. Chastant; sister, Jeannie Chastant; and his maternal grandparents, Alcee and Zulma Mae Thibodeaux.

Pallbearers were Dwight and Ricky Stelly, Timmy Daigle, Donny Thibodeaux, Raphael Thibodeaux and Gregory Chastant.

Honorary pallbearers were David Theriot, Carrol Delahoussaye and Clifford Guidry.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Our Lady of Lourdes and their nursing staff, nurses and staff of Fresenius Medical Center, Dr. Brierre and his PA, Derrick, Dr. Robert Lahasky, Dr. Jeffrey Thibodeaux, Dr. John Luke, Dr. Roderick Clark and the Breaux Bridge Eye Care for their compassion and care given to their loved one.
