There was much competition in the category of festive events on Oct. 2. Keeping that in mind, the African-American Museum Foundation’s 8th Annual Okra Festival & Okra Cook-Off was a success. Beautiful weather, delicious food, good zydeco music and queens from the Okra Pageant and other surrounding pageants were some special features at the festival.

First place winners were Charles Noel (Okra) and Emily Dauphine (Anything But...).

Lisa’s Dance Academy and a pickled okra eating contest were additional highlights.

The AAMF extends a sincere thank you to all who supported our festival.
