St. Martinville – Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 22, 2011, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church for Paul Sonnier, Jr., 71, who passed away on Wednesday, October 19, 2011, at his residence.

Entombment followed at St. Michael Mausoleum.

Reading the scriptures for the service were Lauren Sonnier, Kily Boggs and Ambre Warfel. Gift bearers were Dale Sonnier, Brandy Thibodeaux and Nicole Foti.

Mr. Sonnier enjoyed getting together with his family and friends. He enjoyed traveling, especially going on cruises. He operated a fireworks stand for many years.

Survivors include his sons, Randy Sonnier and his wife Paula, and Sandy Sonnier and his wife Misty; daughters, Cynthia Dore and her husband Scott, and Seana Berard and her husband Ted; stepsons, George “Butch” Dore and Terry Dore and his wife Connie; stepdaughter, Leslie Dore; sisters, Gladys Boutte and Mary Bouillion; 11 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, five step grandchildren and one step great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace Lasseigne Sonnier; parents, Paul Sonnier Sr. and Lucille Picard Sonnier; brothers, Euzebe and Leroy Sonnier; and a sister, Viola Bonin.

A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. on Friday.

Pallbearers were Randy, Sandy, Spencer and Britt Sonnier, Scott Dore, Ted Berard, George “Butch” Dore and Randall Courville.

Honorary pallbearers were Jerry Pellerin, Ulysses, Gerald and Michael Lasseigne.

Pellerin Funeral Home of St. Martinville was in charge of arrangements.
