The three St. Martin Parish football teams will remain in the same district for at least the next two years, following the release of the Louisiana High School Athletic Association biennial redistricting plan.

The old District 6-4A has been redesignated District 5-4A (as it was previous to 2008) and includes, along with Breaux Bridge, Cecilia and St. Martinville, Northside, Teurlings Catholic and former district member St. Thomas More, which is moving back to Class 4A after two years in the Class 5A ranks, where they were champions of District 5-5A and seeded No. 2 going into the state Class 5A playoffs.

Departing the district are long time members Beau Chene and Opelousas, who are being shifted to District 4-4A. They join DeRidder, LaGrange, St. Louis Catholic and Washington-Marion in that southwest Louisiana league.

The new district plan will apply to all boys’ sports, including basketball, track and field, and baseball.
