Interment was at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2.
Fr. Allen Breauxconducted the services. Jodi Kuiper and Monica Verret read the scriptures. Serving as gift bearers were Angelique Bishop and Myra Thibodeaux.
Edith enjoyed cooking and baking for family gatherings and babysitting her grandchildren. She enjoyed playing cards, pokeno, going to the casino and had a life long love of horse racing. When she was not inside her home, she could be found outside working in her yard. She also loved spending time with her little dog, Chico.
Survivors include her sons, Nolan Theriot and his wife Genevieve, Ames Theriot and his wife Helen, Harold Theriot and his wife Judy and William Theriot Jr., all of Breaux Bridge; her daughters, Betty LeBlanc and her husband Nolan, Rosie Courville and her husband Russell, all of Breaux Bridge, Joyce LeCompte and her companion Eugene Arnaud of Arnaudville, Patsy Theriot and Cherell Benoit and her husband John, all of Breaux Bridge; her brothers, Septiene Borel and his wife Edmonia, and Phillip Borel, all of Catahoula; her sisters, Orelia Bijeaux of Parks and Mary Albert and her husband Ramsey of Catahoula; 15 grandchildren, three adopted grandchildren, two step grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, nine step great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Theriot Sr.; her parents, Laurent Borel Sr. and Clara Theriot Borel; her brothers, Joseph, Clovis Sr., Pierre, Marcel, Laurent Jr. and Amilicar Borel; her sisters, Olivia Borel, Corraine Dugas and Elmire Borel; and her step great-grandchild, Dustin Verret.
A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Sunday.
Pallbearers were Todd Theriot, Dale Courville, Clint Theriot, Jamie Theriot, Jake Theriot and Patrick Thibodeaux.
Honorary pallbearers were Tim Bishop, Dana Fontenot and Bryan LeCompte.
The family would like to send a special thanks to the agencies that cared for their mother during her time of need, especially Rose Potier, Concepts of Care Home Health Agency and St. Theresa’s Hospice, Lafayette. Thank you to the staff … we appreciate the great care.
