Anse La Butte – Beginning in 1962, 49 years ago, a small core group of a few women started The Anse La Butte Rosary Group.

Through the years, 13 members have died, and there are currently 13 active members.

The group meets every Wednesday at 10 a.m., and each member takes a turn hosting the gathering.

Before reciting the rosary, the ladies pray for the ill, home bound, deceased, including members who have passed away, soldiers and any other petitions mentioned by the members. Prayers of thanksgiving are also included.

After the rosary and prayers, lunch is served, followed by cake and coffee.

Each year the group holds Christmas and Easter socials. Money raised from these events is donated and used for worthy causes, such as needy families, charitable organizations and whatever else they see a need for.

The ladies have all been there to support one another. They have witnessed births, graduations, marriages, deaths and each other’s children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow up.

“We look forward to each new day as a wondrous adventure. We are all inspired by our Catholic faith and our love for the Blessed Mother,” said Marella Breaux of Breaux Bridge, a longtime member of the group.
