The “Living Legends” program was resumed with the induction of James “Jim” Trahan into the “Order of Living Legends” on March 28. Warren A. Perrin, museum director, said: “Monthly, we will honor a person who has devoted his or her life to the development, promotion and protection of our Cajun heritage and culture. Future inductees are Larry Miller on April 11 and Clifford Touchet on May 23.”

The new corporate sponsors for the program, which honors individuals that help shape and define the Cajun culture, are the law firm of Perrin, Landry, deLaunay, Dartez & Ouellet and Envirochem of Erath. Jean Ouellet, managing partner of the Acadiana law firm of Perrin, Landry, deLaunay, Dartez & Ouellet, stated: “We are delighted to help underwrite the expenses incurred as a result of the culturally-based ‘Living Legends’ series.” Walter Hidalgo, President of Envirochem, said: “The program, founded in 1996, has been suspended since Hurricane Ike flooded the Town of Erath and (that) Envirochem is very happy to be a corporate sponsor of this outstanding program.”
