Fire District coordinator resigns

Brian Castille, coordinator for the St. Martin Parish Fire District, has resigned from his post. Few details were available at this time, but some sources have told the Teche News that the resignations of some volunteers resulted in a high degree of stress for department officials and a higher level of scrutiny from parish government. Earlier in the year, some firefighters had voiced concerns about the condition of department equipment and the adequacy of the training program. At that time, Castille said equipment issues had already been rectified. Parish President Chester Cedars told the Teche News that, following a meeting with the department chiefs, Assistant Training Officer Brody Miller has been appointed interim coordinator. “We just want to thank Brian for his many years of service to the district,” Cedars said. The parish will advertise for a permanent replacement and conduct interviews in the coming weeks, he added.
