Breaux Bridge – A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday, February 7, 2022, at St. Bernard Catholic Church for Geraldine Courville LeBlanc, 79, who passed away on Monday, January 31, 2022, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.
Visiting hours were observed at the funeral home from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Sunday and continues on Monday ferom 8 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.
A rosary was prayed at 7 p.m. on Sunday.
Rev. Keith Landry officiated at the Funeral Mass. Readers were Megan Huval and Buster Huval. Gift Bearers were her grandchildren.
Interment followed at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery in Henderson.
Geraldine was a devout Catholic and a parishioner of St. Bernard Catholic Church. She was faithful and dedicated adorer at St. Bernard’s Chapel of Perpetual Adoration for many years. Geraldine was a Discalced Secular Carmelite in the Community of Saint Joseph Guardian of Carmel in Lafayette. She chose as her Carmelite name when she made her profession on May 19, 2002, Mary of Our Lady of Sorrows. She was a dedicated volunteer with the Carmelite Monastery and Come Lord Jesus.
She loved dancing, sewing, flower designing, and always putting her children and grandchildren first and assisting them with anything they needed. Geraldine belonged to the Children’s of Light and the Prayer Blanket Ministries. She was a CCD Teacher, and she will be remembered for her kindness, praying for those in need, and her generosity.
She is survived by her husband, John Gerald LeBlanc; daughters, Monique LeBlanc (William LeGrand), Melissa L. Champagne (Lonnie Champagne), Michelle L. Johnson (Patrick Johnson) and Megan L. Huval (Chad Huval); grandchildren, Ronny W. LeJeune (Lucas), Danielle Hayes, Janice Eddy (Jon Ross), Micah J. Huval, Colin M. Huval (Jayd Vernon), and Travis Champagne (Brooke); great-grandchildren, Sawyer J. Eddy, Arya J. Eddy, and Maddox Champagne; brothers, Julius Courville Jr. (Betty) and William Courville (Dorothy); and her sisters, Elaine C. Laniere (Richard) and Ethel C. Huval (Johnny).
She was preceded in death by her parents, Julius Sr. and Melia Trosclair Courville; son, Robert Elston LeBlanc; grandson, Damein Andre Johnson; and three sisters, Lucille C. Badeaux, Anna Belle C. Bertrand and Kathy C. Huval.
The family would like to extend special thanks to her nurses and caregivers, Wendy Cole, Otharee “Tiny” Alexander and Martha Pierce, for the wonderful care they provided to her during her time of need.
