Cecilia – A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2022, 10 a.m. - 1 p.m., at the VFW hall in Cecilia for Dwight James “DW” Angelle, 64, who passed away on Tuesday, January 11, 2022.
A Eulogy and rosary will be said by Pope Huval at 12 noon.
Dwight worked alongside his brother Terry, and cousin Dean, at Whiskey River Landing as a boat captain, conducting bi-lingual boat tours in the Atchafalaya Basin in Henderson, Louisiana. “DW” as he was affectionally known loved to dance to Cajun and Zydeco music. He was a friend of Bill W. and very active with his 12-step group and was a cheerful support to many friends in the recovery program. He never hesitated to share his experience, strength and hope with a newcomer. He had many hilarious experiences to share and all were anchored by a faith in God. Dwight resided in Baton Rouge for the last several years and had numerous friends there that he considered family. While enjoying his daily walk around the lake near his home, he engaged with many people discovering that the two of them shared many interests. He is dearly loved and missed by many. May he rest in peace.
He is survived by his niece, Kelly Mistric and her two children, Luke Denais, Emma Denais, his paternal uncle Walter Angelle and wife Nancy, maternal uncle Eugene Champagne and wife Vienna.
He is preceded in death by his parents Murphy “Pental” Angelle and Hazel Champagne Angelle, brother Terry Murphy Angelle, nephew (godchild) Jerod Preston Angelle, paternal grandparents Preston Angelle and Inez Guidry Angelle, maternal grandparents Pierre Champagne and Jeanne Hebert Champagne.
