ebration was held at the American Legion Hall in Cecilia on Saturday, August 20, 2022, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for Raymond “Ray” Benoit, 74, who passed away at Lafayette Heart Hospital on Thursday, August 11, 2022.
Prayers with Deacon Ken Soignier were held at 11 a.m. and a Rosary was recited by his sister-in-law, Dot Daspit, at 1:30 p.m.
Raymond “Ray” began working in the oilfield at a early age doing wireline, running oilfield equipment and truck driving. He worked for Lafayette Rental Service, then at Teche Electric Supply as the warehouse manager for 12 years before retiring.
He loved to hunt, fish, camping and working in his yard. He loved listening to his French music and his favorite radio station was 101.1 KBON. He enjoyed cooking. His greatest love was providing and caring for his family and friends. He never met a stranger because of his great and easy going personality and ability to joke around.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Sandra Broussard Benoit; daughters, Danielle Benoit Huval of Brazoria Texas and Kimberly Benoit Gautreaux (Jason Carriere) of Cecilia; grandchildren, Paige Mackenzie Huval of Cecilia, Jonah David and Blake Murphy Gautreaux of Cecilia, Koi Huval Reeves, Summer Huval Hooks, Jason “Deuce” Carriere, and Ethan and Baylon Carriere; brothers, Patrick Benoit (Ginger) of Breaux Bridge and Terrell Benoit of Batson Texas; nieces, nephews and lots of friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Murphy “Black” and Ethel Benoit of Breaux Bridge; nephews, Mitch Daspit, Paul Broussard and Toby Broussard; great-nephew, Dylan Daspit; and great-niece, Ashley Benoit.
