Ceciliia – A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 1 p.m. on Monday, November 28, 2022, at St. Joseph Catholic Church for Dorothy Dupuis Huval, 93, who passed away on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, in Lafayette.
A visitation was held at the funeral home in Cecilia on Monday from 8:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.
A rosary was prayed at 12 p.m. on Monday by Deacon Ken Soignier.
Father Gregory Cormier officiated at the Funeral Mass. Readers were Rhonda Guidry, Wayne Ables and Joschlyn Rachelle Simon.
Interment followed at St. Joseph Mausoleum.
Dorothy was a devout Catholic and parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cecilia. She enjoyed reading and quilting, but above all she loved spending time with her family and friends, especially baking for them. Dorothy was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her sons, Warren “Butch” Huval and Sandy Huval; daughters, Theresa Ables (Wayne), Karen Harvey (Kenneth), Lorna Lalonde (John Ray) and Tina Calais (Guy); grandchildren, Rowdy Ables, Tessy Guerrere (Michael), Joschlyn Rachelle Simon (Brad), Jenny Dupont (Jason), Lacey White (Robin), Rhonda Guidry (Billy), Kaylah Lalonde, Amanda Laviolette (Bryan), Lance Huval (Tangie), Ashleigh Huval, Addison Huval, Meagan Calais (Jerek) and Austin Calais (Chynna); and 14 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Reeves Huval; parents, Walter Dupuis and Theresa Courville Dupuis; brothers, Sprague Dupuis, Anton Dupuis, Wade Dupuis, Lloyd Dupuis, Charles Dupuis, Allen Dupuis, Francis Dupuis and Newton Dupuis.
Pallbearers were Bronson Simon, Jake Simon, Austin Calais, Rowdy Ables, Lance Huval and Trent Collins.
Honorary pallbearers were Warren “Butch” Huval and Sandy Huval.
Pellerin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
