Catahoula – A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at St. Rita Catholic Church for Harold “T-Hair” Latiolais, 80, who passed away on Thursday, May 11, 2023, at Iberia Medical Center.
A visitation was held at Dion Hall in Catahoula on Monday from 2 p.m. until 9 p.m. It continued on Tuesday morning from 8 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.
A rosary wase prayed at 7 p.m. on Monday evening by Deacon Russell Hayes.
Father Bill Melancon officiated at the funeral mass. Interment followed at St. Elizabeth Cemetery in Coteau Holmes.
T-Hair took great pride in being a commercial fisherman. He spent years crabbing and crawfishing in the waters of Louisiana, and his work ethic was second to none.
Beyond his career, T-Hair was known for his warm personality and love for his family. He was a devoted husband to his wife and a loving father to his children. He was also blessed with grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom he cherished deeply.
In addition to fishing and cooking, Harold enjoyed hunting, drinking a good beer and spending time at “Latiolais’ Camp.” He loved spending time with his family and his beloved dogs, “Nutty” and “T-Girl.” He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Velma Stelly Latiolais; daughter, Cara Vicknair; sons, Marvin J. Latiolais (Tonia) and Kiley J. Latiolais Sr. (Crystal); grandchildren, Kasha Vicknair-Hebert (Jason), Kalem Vicknair (Andrea), Kelcie Latiolais, Cameron Latiolais (Hannah), Karley Latiolais, Hunter Latiolais, Aldus Latiolais, Nathaniel Latiolais, Eizabella Latiolais, Kiley Latiolais Jr., Nathan Soileau and Kirsten Soileau; great-grandchildren, Clarissa Hebert, Theodore Hebert, Kamden Vicknair, Preston Schutz and Karson Schutz; brothers, Claybert Latiolais (Cheryl) and Costa Latiolais Jr. (Susan); and brother-in-law, Jimmy Domingue.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Costa Latiolais Sr. and Laurence Dugas Latiolais; and sister, Marion Domingue.
Pallbearers were Marvin Latiolais, Kiley Latiolais Sr., Kalem Vicknair, Cameron Latiolais, Joseph Richard and Nathan Soileau.
Honorary Pallbearer wase Kory Latiolais.
Pellerin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
