Cecilia - A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Henderson, for Curtis Joseph Allemond, 89, who passed away on Friday, June 21, 2024, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
A visitation took place at the funeral home in Cecilia on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m..
A Rosary was recited at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday by his loving family.
Rev. Garrett McIntyre officiated at the Funeral Mass. Readers were Madeline Allemond and Jayna Arnaud. Gift bearers will be Bo Steele, Jack Mouton and Baylon Allemond. Altar Servers were Jaxon Steele and Mason Arnaud.
Interment followed at St. Michael Cemetery in Henderson.
Curtis was the esteemed owner of McGee’s Landing and a skilled Boat Captain for the tours, he dedicated his days to sharing his love for his culture and heritage with all who crossed his path.
With a heart as vast as the waters he navigated, Curtis found joy in the simplicity of life. Fishing, hunting, feeding birds and stray animals, cultivating gardens, and savoring the art of cooking were among his cherished pastimes. His life was a testament to the warmth and generosity he extended to his family and friends, always eager to immerse them in the beauty of his traditions.
Curtis Joseph Allemond will forever be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and unwavering dedication to his passions and loved ones. May his spirit continue to guide those who have been touched by his presence, as his legacy lives on in each life he has influenced.
He is survived by his daughters, Vonda Hayes (Todd) and Rachel Calais; sons, David Allemond (Peggy), Phillip Allemond, and Mark Allemond (Peggy); grandchildren, Layla Mouton (Rusty), Kate Allemond (Sharhraam Kamalpour), Henri Allemond (Samantha), Jean-Philippe Allemond, Jayna Arnaud (Billy), Traye Allemond, Madeline Allemond, Cort Calais, Ariel Thevenet (Mitchell), Amber Poupart (Aaron), Cameron Calais (Gabrielle), Ashley Steele (Trey), Thad Hayes (Paige) and Aaron Hayes (Kasey); and 21 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Pierre and Lorenza Patin Allemond; wife, Geraldine Allemond; brothers, Percy, Ivy, Alton, and Allen Allemond; sisters, Mary Ann Perioux, Electa Brasseaux, and Lovine Angelle; son-in-law, Keith Calais; and his grandson, Chris Calais.
Pallbearers were be Thad Hayes, Aaron Hayes, Cort Calais, Cameron Calais, Traye Allemond, and Jean-Philippe Allemond.
Pellerin Funeral Home of Cecilia was in charge of arrangements.
