Robert ‘Bob’ Bonin

Breaux Bridge – A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10 a.m., Friday, July 26, 2024, at St. Bernard Catholic Church for Robert Dale “Bob” Bonin, 83, who passed away on Monday, July 22, 2024.

A visitation took place at Pellerin Funeral Home in Breaux Bridge on Thursday from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. and continued on Friday from 8 a.m. until service time.

A rosary was recited by Deacon Marcel “Butch” Hebert at 6 p.m. on Thursday. 

Rev. Garrett McIntyre officiated at the Funeral Mass. 

Interment followed at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2. 

Robert was born on February 28, 1941, in Lake Arthur. Bob spent over 50 years in sales and service in the auto industry. His commitment shone through as he owned and operated Breaux Bridge Sales and Finance, where he built lasting relationships with his customers and supported his community. Known for his larger-than-life personality, was a vibrant presence in the lives of those around him. He will be remembered for his love of family and friends, always making time to create unforgettable memories with those he held dear. Beyond his career, Bob found joy in playing cards, boating, and spending peaceful days at the camp in Toledo Bend.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Renella Dore Bonin; children, Debra Rose Bonin (Chuck) Fanning, Ann Bonin (Stuart) Smith, Roberta Lynn Bonin (Russell) LeBlanc, Robert Justin Bonin, Renee Marie Bonin (Samuel) Moreau and Clara Bonin (Brian) Fontenot; grandchildren, Emily Fanning, Benjamin Fanning, Annie Smith (Jason) Ehrat, Andrew Smith, Ali Smith, Guenther Smith, Rodney John Bonin, Sarah Ann Bonin, Nickolas LeBlanc, Ryan Cole Jackson, Brian Fontenot, Jr., Noah Lee Fontenot, Lexi Fontenot Guerrero, Kaitlynn Moreau Thibodeaux and Cydney Moreau; and 20 great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Famon and Clara Myers Bonin; a grandchild, Charles “Chuckie” Fanning, Jr.; and his brothers, Royce “R.J.” Bonin and Herbert “Tubby” Bonin.
