Breaux Bridge - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church for Yvonne Velma Boyd, 86, who passed away on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at River Oaks Retirement Manor.
A visitation will take place at the Pellerin Funeral Home in Breaux Bridge on Saturday, August 24, from 7 a.m. to 10: a.m.
A rosary will be prayed at 9 a.m. on Saturday.
Rev. George-Bede Ajuruchi SSJ will officiate at the Funeral Mass.
Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No.2.
Yvonne was born on November 22, 1937, in Lafayette. Yvonne loved spending time with her family and friends. She worked many years as a caretaker for various families in the community. She also worked for many years at St. Agnes Nursing Home.
She is survived by her children, Rose Gotch (Donald), Deborah Williams (Francis), Kenneth Boyd, Yvonne Jones (Alvin), and Nicholas Boyd (Stephanie); sisters, Gwendolyn Miller, Barbara Conner (Joseph), and Mary Broussard; 17 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Kenny Boyd; father, Ashby Cormier; mother, Mary Mable Skipper; daughter, Alma Myra Ledet; brothers, Joseph Clarence Cormier and Joseph Cormier; one sister-in-law, Ruth Cormier; and one brother-in-law, Alamo Miller.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to her granddaughter, Ashley Louis, River Oaks Retirement Manor, and Hospice of Acadiana, for the care given to her during her time of need.
