Rosadell ‘Rose’ Menard Savoy

Breaux Bridge – Rosadell ‘Rose’ Menard Savoy, known to many as ‘Mitt’, 93, passed away July 31, 2024 at her residence after the sudden diagnosis of cancer.

Rose was born April 15, 1931 in St. Martinville, LA to Clement and Felicianne Champagne Menard. She married Whitney Savoy on February 6, 1954. They lived in Lake Charles for a short time, while Whitney finished out his military orders. Upon completion, they moved to Parks where they began their family life. Rose worked at Breaux’s Cleaners part-time/as needed for close to 30 years. During this time, she was also a dedicated Special Education bus driver with St Martin Parish for 20 years.

Rose loved spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed traveling, cooking, and a good beer. If there was ever a time you could not find her, she was likely rocking one of the great grandchildren, as this was her most favorite past time in her later years. She leaves behind a legacy of unconditional love that will be remembered by all who knew her.

Rose is survived by her daughter: Patricia (Michael) Sarkies; her daughter/niece: Viola (Don) Ardoin; her grandchildren: Ryan (Dez) Sarkies, Kacie (Joseph) Breaux, Abbie (Skylar) Mouton, Allie (Danna) Dore’, and Kobie (Lee) Rhodes; and 15 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Whitney Savoy; her parents, Clement and Felicianne Champagne Menard; and her brothers: Wilton, Francis, George, Alton (Kye), and Harold Menard.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 21st, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, LA. The church will open at 10 a.m. with a rosary at 10:30 a.m. recited by Jane Guidry and Joyce Menard. Father Reed Bellingham will officiate, readers will be Allie Dore’ and Kobie Rhodes, and organist will be Joyce Menard.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Our family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Ochsner’s Hospital and the nurses at Hospice of Acadiana who helped Rose in the last few weeks of her life.
