Mr. Terry James Boyd, age 54, departed this life on November 18, 2024. Terry was born on March 3, 1970, to the late Odelia Boyd. From a young age, he developed a deep love for Christ and became a devoted member of the Catholic faith, attending mass at Saint Rose of Lima Church in Cecilia, LA and later joining Saint Teresa Catholic Church in Albany, Georgia.
While in high school, Terry enlisted in the Army National Guard and completed basic training in the summer of 1988. He graduated from Cecilia High School in 1989 after which he attended the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and studied engineering. He subsequently joined the U.S. Navy, where he served proudly on a nuclear submarine, stationed at the Naval Submarine Base in Groton, CT. During his military service, Terry earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in accounting and finance from the University of New Haven. He worked four years as an adjuster in the insurance industry and 21 years with the Department of Defense working as a financial analyst.
In April of 2000, Terry welcomed his one and only child, Kyra Boyd. Together they shared wonderful memories traveling to different parts of the country. Kyra admired her father’s strength and kindness and the way he left a lasting imprint on her heart.
On June 26, 2013, Terry married the love of his life, Sharon. Together, they built a life full of love, joy, and shared adventures. From the moment they met, Terry and Sharon were drawn to each other through an undeniable connection. Their bond was instant, effortless, and filled with quiet intensity that deepened with time. Their bond was built on the assurance that no matter what life brings, they would always be there for each other. Terry became part of the Jimmerson family and Sharon part of the Boyd family. Through their union, love and family became one, woven together in the most gentle, compassionate way.
Terry was known to all who knew him for his radiant smile, infectious laughter, and quirky sense of humor. His vast knowledge, particularly when it came to finance and business analytics, and his impeccable memory made him a source of support and inspiration to those around him. A true lover of learning, Terry spent his free time reading and researching various topics of interest, and he was often found tinkering with his Mustangs or participating in car shows. He was an avid sports fan, cheering on LSU and the New Orleans Saints, and cherished the times he spent hunting with his brothers-in-law and nephews.
Terry had a passion for travel, visiting various parts of the country, and making friends wherever he went. His integrity, positive energy, and willingness to lend a helping hand touched countless lives. He was quick to offer support, always asking, “How can I help you?” Terry’s legacy is one of kindness, generosity, and love, living out the values Christ modeled for us.
Terry’s unexpected passing left a profound void in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. While his time with us was far too short, his memory will live on forever. We ask that you remember Terry not for the way his life ended, but for the way it was lived a life marked by compassion, service, and the love he shared with so many.
Terry is survived by his loving wife, Sharon Boyd and loving daughter, Kyra Boyd of Norwich, CT; three brothers: Larry (Lois) Calais of Cecilia, LA, Daniel (Lynn) Boyd of Pike Road, AL, Edward Boyd of Lafayette, LA; and sister: Suzanna Boyd of Breaux Bridge, LA; uncle: Nathan Boyd; mother-in-law: Minnie Jimmerson of Leesburg, GA; sister-in-law: Evangeline Grant of Albany, GA; four brothers-in-law: Melvin (Judy) Jimmerson of Albany, GA; Joe (Carmen) Jimmerson of Leesburg, GA; and Kenneth (Freda) Jimmerson of Kearneysville, WV; and a host of family and friends.
