Las Vegas – It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jeanette “Jean” Theresa Gaudin on January 10, 2025 at the age of 93. Jean was born on February 20, 1931 in St. Martinville, Louisiana to Achille Gaudin and Erskine Vegas Gaudin.
There will be a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. on February 28, 2025 at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church. Followed by the interment of her ashes into the tomb where our dad was buried in 1977 in St. Michael’s Cemetery.
Jean grew up in St. Martinville, Louisiana and graduated from St. Martinville Senior High School where she was captain of the high school basketball team three out of four years. She married Francis Michael Landry in 1949. Francis was a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps. Jean and Francis resided for a time in North Carolina, Texas and Washington D.C. before moving back to St. Martinville in 1960. Jean worked for Jenny’s F & H Store for a few years. Eventually, she retired from J. B. Talley Construction Company after 27 years of service.
In 2009, Jean moved to Las Vegas, Nevada to live with her daughter, Denise. Jean enjoyed cooking for her family, sewing and yard work.
Jean is survived by her two sons; Francis Michael Landry Jr. and Craig Jude Landry, her daughter Denise Erskine Zeolide Landry, her grandson Yohannes Berard and wife Jamie,and their four sons; Braylen, Bryson, Breckon, and Bowen. In addition, she is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Jean is preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her four brothers and two sisters.
