St. Martinville - Rotarian Charles “Chip” Maraist Sr. will reign as King Rotary LXXVII along with Queen Rotary Anne LXXVII Elizabeth Clair Dubois when the St. Martinville Rotary Club stages its 77th Mardi Gras Ball on Saturday, March 1, at the Cade Community Center.
The theme of this year’s ball will be Jewels of the Night.
Tickets and tables are on sale for the public thru Feb. 28 at the B1 Bank Branch in St. Martinville or you may purchase tickets by calling Michelle Broussard at 337523-2472.
The pageant will begin at 7 p.m. with presentation of the royal court in lavish costumes. Following the pageant, Nik-L- Beer will provide music for dancing until midnight.
A dress rehearsal, also open to the public, will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 28 at the Cade Community Center. Admission will be $10 for adults and $5 for children under 12.

King Charles “Chip” Maraist, Sr.
Chip is a lifelong resident of St. Martinville and a 40 plus year member of the St. Martinville Rotary Club. He has served as club president, captain of the ball and King Rotary L.
He is a certified public accountant in the family firm of Maraist and Maraist CPA.
He has been married to his wife Regina for over 50 years and they have three children: a daughter, Melanie Maraist Dubois who served alongside him as Queen Rotary Anne L; and two sons, Charles Jr., who is a partner with him in their family accounting firm; and Dr. Clayton Maraist. They also have seven grandchildren.
Chip’s hobbies include hunting, fishing, golf, archery, and raising dwarf goats and chickens.
He is an alumnus of the University of Southwestern Louisiana, now ULL and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Louisiana Society of Certified Public Accountants.
His parents are the late James Roy Maraist and Anita Broussard Maraist.
Queen Elizabeth Claire “Libby” Dubois
Libby is the daughter of Duncan Dubois and Rotarian Melanie Maraist Dubois, who served as Queen Rotary Anne L. She is the oldest granddaughter of King Rotary LXXVII, Rotarian Charles and Regina Maraist and Lenny and the late Juliette Dubois.
She is a 2019 graduate of Teurlings Catholic School, and was a Father Bede Becnel honor graduate.
Libby continued her academic journey at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2023. She is a dedicated registered nurse specializing in pediatrics at Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center.
Libby is an alumna of Alpha Delta Pi sorority, where she was a recruitment analyst and served on the Panhellenic Judiciary Review Board. She loves to travel and cherishes her rich Mardi Gras heritage.
In 2008, she was a page to the Queen Mother, and in 2012, she was a junior maid to her grandmother, Regina Broussard Maraist, the Queen of Mardi Gras. She was also a debutante in the 2020 St. Martinville Rotary Ball.
