St. Martinville Senior High claimed a trio of wins this past week on the baseball diamond, beating Highland Baptist in New Iberia on Monday and then topping Berchmans Academy on Thursday and Comeaux High on Friday at home.
Against Comeaux, SMSH led 5-0 after two innings and added three runs in the third, four in the fourth and three in the fifth.
Kaden Gary had three hits including a double and scored three runs. Rylin Savoy had two hits including a double with four RBIs. Jayton Walker went 3-for-3 with two RBIs and four runs. The Tigers collected 12 hits and did not commit an error.
Gary pithed four innings for the win, allowing eight hits and 10 runs with eight walks and seven strikeouts. Logan Bienvenu allowed two runs on two hits with two strikeouts in three innings.
St. Martinville scored five runs in the fourth inning on Thursday to break the game open. Each team scored three runs in the first and SMSH led 5-3 after scoring twice in the third. Berchmans scored a run in the top of the fourth to pull to within a run before St. Martinville got five in the bottom of the inning.
Dixon Aymond went 2-for-4 at the plate with a double and three RBIs. Aymond also pitched the final four innings, allowing three hits and four runs with four walks and three strikeouts. Rylin Savoy pitched the first three innings, surrendering one earned run on three hits with four walks and five strikeouts.
Logan Bienvenu. Jayton Walker and Kaden Gary each had a hit and an RBI for the Tigers. Ashlon Smith went 2-for-2 with three runs and Kamryn LeBlanc had a hit and scored twice.
Against Highland Baptist, Kaden Gary pithed three scoreless innings of no-hit ball, striking out five and walking one. Ashlon Smith got the win in relief, allowing seven runs, only three earned, on three hits with three walks and seven strikeouts.
Dixon Aymond had two hits for the Tigers. Connor Rome had a hit and an RBI,Jayton Walker and Rylin Savoy each drove in a run and Ashlon Smith also had a hit.
SMSH scored seven runs in the second inning. The Tigers also committed five errors, contributing to Highland’s seven runs.
Breaux Bridge and Cecilia each won their openers in the Eunice Tournament, with BBHS beating West Ouachita 11-10 and Cecilia topping Mamou 9-8 on Thursday.
Breaux Bridge jumped out to a 7-2 lead with a five-run second inning and held on with four runs in the fifth, with West Ouachita scoring five in the fifth and two in the seventh to make it a one-run game.
Starting pitcher Caynon Ardoin went four innings for the win, allowing three runs on five hits with two walks and seven strikeouts. Christian Camacho, Kaleb Theriot and Cullen Laseter also pitched for the Tigers.
West Ouachita outhit BBHS 18-11 and the Tigers committed six errors.
Sam Armentor tripled and drove in two runs for Breaux Bridge and Cullen Laseter doubled and drove in two.
Peyton Gonzalez, Kyson Rebert, Ben Ellender and Bryce Melancon also had hits with Rebert and Melancon driving in runs. Caynon Ardoin drove in two runs.
Crowley beat Breaux Bridge 9-7 in the tournament on Friday. Loreauville beat Cecilia 11-4 in the tournament on Friday.

Softball
Breaux Bridge put together 18 hits including four triples to beat Carencro 11-1 in five innings to pick up a nondistrict softball win this past Tuesday.
Brandi Williams went 2-for-3 with a triple and an RBI. Rylie Boudreaux had a hit with two RBIs and two runs; Hailey Derouen had two hits and scored twice; Zoey Simoneaux had two hits with a triple, two RBIs and a run Gabrielle Scott tripled; Nyah Albert had two hits and scored two runs; Gracie Hebert went 3-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs; Kaydence Gautreaux had a triple, a single and an RBI; and Laylah Albert had two hits and two RBIs.
Simoneaux scattered seven hits and six walks over five innings for the win. Simoneaux struck out three batters.
The Lady Tigers fell at Acadiana on Thursday, 12-1.
Acadiana outhit Breaux Bridge 15-7 in the five-inning contest.
Gracie Hebert went 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs for BBHS. Rylie Boudreaux went 2-for-3 and Nyah Albert, Kayden Gautreaux and Laiylah Albert each had a hit.
Zoey Simoneaux took the loss in the circle, allowing 12 runs, nine earned, on 15 hits with two walks and three strikeouts.
St. Martinville lost to Crowley 18-7 on Thursday, committing six errors to give up 10 unearned runs.
SMSH led 5-2 after one inning and 6-2 after two but allowed eight runs in the third inning and eight in the fourth.
Jaylan Wiltz took the loss, allowing 13 hits and 18 runs, eight of them earned, with two walks and one strikeout.
SMSH bashed out 10 hits with Jaylan Wiltz going 3-for-3 and drive in three runs and Kelsey Theriot getting a single and a double. Laila Funk, Irionne Kately, Grace Suire, Addie Bergeron and Jaelyn Bergeron each had a hit with Kately and Jaelyn Bergeron driving in runs.
Cecilia dropped a 130, five-inning game to St. Thomas More on Tuesday.
Kenlee Etienne had the lone hit for the Lady Bulldogs and also pitched five innings, allowing 13 runs on 10 hits and four walks.
Cecilia fell to Sacred Heart of Ville Platte 12-5 on Thursday.
Sacred Heart scored in five of seven innings, while Cecilia scored three runs in the first and two in the seventh but was blanked in the middle five innings.
Bella Clark went 2-3 with two doubles and an RBI to pace the Lady Bulldogs at the plate. Alexis Dejean added a hit and an RBI and Ahni Bertrand, Addie Berry, Nikkie Devillier and Kenlee Etienne also had hits.
Erin Willis surrendered 12 runs on 14 hits with seven walks in six innings to take the loss.
