20th Annual Acadian Memorial Heritage Festival and Antique Wooden Boat Congrès scheduled Mar. 14-15

St. Martinville – Experience the vibrant history, culture, and traditions of the Acadian/ Cajun people at the 20th Annual Acadian Memorial Heritage Festival & Antique Wooden Boat Congrès on March 14-15, for a weekend of music, cuisine, storytelling, and handson activities that bring Acadian heritage to life!

Festival Highlights The opening reception will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, March 14 at the Acadian Memorial and will honor two Acadian-Cajun family names Roy and Mouton. the Festival Opening Ceremony will take place on Saturday, March 15 at 9:45 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.

Live reenactments and interactive exhibits; French language table for all levels; Genealogy assistance booth; Cajun cuisine demonstrations featuring jambalaya, gratons, fried catfish, boudin, gateau-sirop, dark Cajun coffee, and more will continue through 3:00 p.m. Admission is free.

Live Cajun music by Ryan Abshire & The Envies, family bands, and dance lessons, special guests & reenactments will also take place.

Queen Evangeline and Princesses from the International Acadian Festival of Louisiana will be in attendance.

Honored family representatives will participate in a historical reenactment on Bayou Teche Antique Wooden Boat Congrès The historic Cajun pirogue, recognized as Louisiana’s Official Boat by the State Legislature in 2012, will once again be honoredat the Congrés. The festival will feature pirogue craftsmanship, history, and its role in Acadian culture.

The Acadian Memorial Heritage Festival is dedicated to preserving Acadian history through its museums, murals, and cultural programs. Come celebrate and support the mission to keep these traditions alive! Vive l’Acadie!
