St. Martinville High School Class of 1975
It has been five decades since the SMSH Class of 1975 walked across the stage to receive their diplomas. The weekend of February 14, 15 and 16th, 2025 the class of 1975 came together to relive old memories, rekindle friendships, and create new ones at their highly anticipated 50th high school reunion.
The celebration began at SMSH gym where the class of 1975 cheered on the mighty Tigers as they went on to defeat the Kaplan Pirates. The members of the SMSH 1975 state champion basketball team along with the cheerleaders and classmates cheered the Tigers on and took pride in knowing that the class of 1975 brought the first STATE AAA basketball title to St Martinville. On day two, the class of 1975 joined the SMSH Alumni Committee at their first inaugural Adult Prom/ Gala. The event, held at the Cade Community Center, featured a delicious dinner, a champagne toast to the class of seventy-five, music from the 70’s and a heartfelt slide show, highlighting the 1975 LeTigre Yearbook. Two 1975 classmates, Rodney Francis and Debra Rogers shared class memories at the event along with comments from the Alumni Association. Day 3 culminated with a moving Mass held at Notre Dame Catholic Church followed by a closing picnic at the Cade Center Annex Building. The classmates were able to remember classmates who have died and to reminisce about teachers, friends, and unforgettable moments shared during their high school and catching up on a lifetime of experiences and memories, and talking about our children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.” For those in attendance, the event was not just about reminiscing, it was a powerful reminder of the enduring friendships and lasting connections that make life’s journey more meaningful.
The Class of 1975 produced a wide array of successful individuals, bankers, career military personnel, teachers, lawyers, engineers, artists, civil servants, skilled artisans, farmers, health care workers and entrepreneurs. Many have retired, while others continue to work, but all share a sense of pride in their shared history. The Class of ‘75 is an example of the community and the deep-rooted ties that high school can create, ones that endure long after the final bell rings.
The class of 1975 would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to Class of seventy-five reunion committee members who helped to make this reunion memorable. A special thank you to the SMSH Alumni Association, the Staff of St. Martinville Senior High, the Mayor, and staff of the City of St. Martinville. Your dedication not only made the event unforgettable but also reminded us all how fortunate we are to have such a strong close-knit community. Because of you, our 50th reunion will be a cherished memory for years to come.
