Ok, folks. I need a tip as to why I’m waking up at 2 am in the morning these days! Nobody around here has a rooster. Chickens, yes, but no rooster. The stray cats are not disturbing my dog in the wee hours. Maybe it’s just some internal mechanism to make me get up and drink some Pedialyte! I do go back to sleep but it takes time. Getting really tired during the day doesn’t seem to help. My cat does tromp up and down my body at 6:30am ready for breakfast. Maybe he’s practicing earlier!!
Anyway, the Purple Martins have finally returned. Not just the scouts but a whole crew. My new bird house was up and ready but it was a little tilted so a friend came and straightened it up. The birds got very upset by his activity but settled quickly. It’s so nice to hear the chirping of the Martins in the morning and then at night when they sort of settle in.
I will be leaving shortly for the funeral of the husband of a very good friend. Mark Crochet, husband of Sandra Crochet, long time residents of Belle River, passed away recently. He was 74. Too young.
I just attended the funeral of a long time friend of mine who lived in Pierre Part. Nancy Duco was the President of the Assumption Friends of the Library for many years. Her husband Lanny died a few years ago. Nancy was 82 .
Too many funerals these days!!!! Hopefully no more for awhile!.
Rain is forecast for later today according to my phone after some windy weather. Right now it’s totally quiet and still. I will not be watching any Mardi Gras parades, no matter what the weather. I did at one time when my granddaughter was young but that was years ago.
Sadly for me, I missed the parades at both schools while I attended a meeting in Belle Rose. By the time that was over, the little kids parades were over. I hear they were nice.
The bad weather forecast wasn’t bad. The wind did blow hard once in a while but not for a prolonged time. The rain was sporadic. Hard for a few minutes, then nothing In general it was a nasty day. Today, Wednesday, March 5, it is sunny and a little chilly but no rain in sight. Wind is forecast but right now before noon it’s quiet out.
The Belle River bridge approaches vary a lot these days so you have to be a little careful crossing. The ramps level themselves pretty quickly but not instantaneously so you either shoot up or risk hitting a bumper. Best to just go a little slow crossing.
Bingo for Seniors skipped Mardi Gras so the next game will be Mar. 18. Food for Seniors will be Mar. 27.
The nutrition lady from LSU brought the Spice of the Month samples and I’ll have those out for the commodities people. The next sample is Caraway seeds.
