It was rumored that the level of the Keystone Locks at Bayou Teche was to be raised some three feet, for the purpose of diverting more of the waters of the upper Teche to Bayou Vermillion, through the canal at Ruth Plantation.
In a public test supervised by city and automobile club officials, a Ford sedan equipped with Blaucke Thermostatic Carbureter Coutrol ran 43.8 miles on one gallon of gasoline.
“Wine of Youth,” the new Metro-Goldwyn production, directed by King Vidor, was announced as the attraction for the Bienvenu Theatre Sunday March 15. In the cast were such well known players as Eleanor Boardman, Ben Lyon, William Collier, Jr. and others. The story is of the younger generation of the flappers and their “cake-eaters.”

The St. Martinville Tigers brought home the State AAA basket- ball championship with a 51-42 Top 24 victory over the Peabody Warhorses in Alexandria. It was the first state cage title for a St. Martin Parish team and only the second state athletic title for St. Martinville in history.
Beginning March 17, persons doing any construction, major repairs, or locating a mobile home in an unincorporated area of St. Martin Parish were required to obtain a building permit from the St Martin Parish Police Jury.
State Senator Paul Hardy of St. Martinville received the Legislative Conservationist of the Year Award in the l1th Governor’s State Conservation Achievement Program.

The Army Corps of Engineers began diverting Mississippi waters toward the Atchafalaya River to improve dry Basin conditions for the crawfish industry that would help, but not save, the year’s poor crawfish crop, according to a University of Louisiana at Lafayette marine specialist.
St. Martinville Parish President Scott Angelle said that the final permit had been issued by the U.S. Coast Guard to construct the new bridge at St. John. The $2.9 million project had been in the works and in the surveying stage for more than 10 years.

Lafayettte Diocesan officials said that registration at Trinity Catholic School would have to reach 170 students by March 25 in order to keep the school open for the 2015-16 academic year.
The St. Martin School Board approved the expenditure of $2,314,772 in 2013 bond proceeds for cabling upgrades at 10 parish schools and eight new classrooms at Cecilia Jr. High. The cabling work, necessary to accommodate the growing use of computers in schools, were to be performed at Cecilia High and Jr. High, Breaux Bridge Primary and BB High, St. Martinville High, Cecilia Primary and Teche Elementary, Catahoula Elementary, Parks Middle and Stephensville Elementary.
