SMSH boys and girls earn All-District basketball honors
St. Martinville – St. Martinville Senior High placed two boys on the first team and one on the second team of the All-District 5-3A Boys’ Basketball Team as selected by the district’s coaches.
St. Martinville also had a first-team selection and two secondteam selections on the Girls’ All-District 5-3A Team, and had a player selected to the boys’ All-Defensive Team and two to the girls’ All-Defensive Team.
St. Martinville seniors Makharee Narcisse and Tyren Syon were named to the boys’ first team.
The Tigers finished the league slate at with a 7-1 mark and split games with Abbeville, which was 6-1.
Abbeville sophomore Chayson Gray was voted the district MVP and Abbeville’s Trevor Eaton was Coach of the Year.
Tyler Landry and Ronisha Allen, both seniors, were named to the girls’ second team.
Ray Narcisse was a second-team All-District pick for the SMSH boys.
St. Martinville’s Skylar Frelix was voted to the All-Defensive Team and was an honorable mention All-District pick.
St. Martinville senior Kamryn Gedward was a first-team choice on the girls’ team. The Lady Tigers finished 6-2 in district, second behind Abbeville (8-0).
St. Martinville’s Alivia Joseph and Roneisha Allen were both named secondteam All-District.
Irianne Kately and Makayla Francois of SMSH were named to the All-Defensive team.
St. Martinville’s Caneriya Marshall and Kennedy Lee were honorable mentions to the All-District list.
Abbeville senior Alyria Green was named the District MVP and Myles Hutchinson of Abbeville was Coach of the Year.
Abbeville and St. Martinville each advanced to the second round of the Non-Select Division II girls’ playoffs with AHS coming away with a 47-40 win.
