Softball
The Breaux Bridge High School baseball team beat Beau Chene 15-12 this past Tuesday, then beat the Gators 3-2 on Thursday to begin the District 5-4A slate with a 2-0 record.
The Tigers racked up 16 hits in Tuesday’s win, with Kamen Babin going 2-for-3 with three RBIs and Evan Theriot going 2-for-3 with two RBIs.
Peyton Gonzalez, Sam Armentor and Kyson Rebert each getting two hits and an RBI and Benjamin Ellender had two hits including a double. Bryce Melancon also had two hits for BBHS.
Cullen Laseter pitched five innings for the win, allowing eight hits and 10 runs, five earned, with one walk and three strikeouts.
On Thursday, Beau Chene broke open a scoreless game in the top of the seventh, scoring two runs, but Breaux Bridge answered with three runs in the bottom of the frame for the win.
Bryce Melancon singled with one out in the bottom of the seventh and Kyson Rebert and Kamen Babin were both hit by pitches to load the bases.
Evan Theriot and Peyton Gonzalez each drew walks to force in runs before Sam Armentor singled to center field to end the game by bringing Babin home.
Armentor pitched seven innings for the win, scattering three hits and allowing two unearned runs. He walked three batters and struck out two.

Breaux Bridge picked up two big softball wins this past week before dropping a District 5-4A game to Livonia.
The Lady Tigers blasted Opelousas 29-2 on Tuesday, collecting 23 hits, then beat St. Martinville 19-0 on Thursday behind Zoey Simoneaux’s no-hit, seven-strikeout performance over three innings.
Against Opelousas, BBHS scored 19 runs in the first inning and 10 in the second of a threeinning laugher.
Gracie Hebert went 4-for-4 with eight RBIs and Nyah Albert went 4-for-4 with four RBIs against Opelousas.
Layla Hebert went 3-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, Krysten Torres went 2-for-3 with an RBI, Zoey Simoneaux was 2-for-2 with four RBIs, Jaidyn Nugent doubled and drove in a run, Emily Boudreaux and Hailey Derouen each had a hit and two RBIs, Masyn Dupuis doubled, and Madelyn Duhon had a hit and an RBI.
Zoey Simoneaux struck out five and allowed two hits and no walks in three innings to earn the win.
BBHS scored 10 runs in the second inning of a three-inning win over SMSH, getting four runs in the first and five in the third.
Gracie Hebert went 4-for-4 with a triple, a home run and five RBIs, and Brandi Williams went 3-for-4 with a double, two triples and four RBIs for the Lady Tigers.
Rylie Boudreaux went 2-for-3 with a triple and an RBI, Calie Chiasson went 2-for-3 with two RBIs, Zoey Simoneaux was 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI, and Carleigh Gant went 1-for-1 with two RBIs.
Simoneaux struck out seven and walked one in three innings of no-hit pitching.
