Unrestrained driver, passenger killed in St. Martin Parish crash

– A single-vehicle crash on March 17 on La. 347 near its intersection with Huron Road claimed the lives of 42-year-old Kent Allemand and 52-year-old Angel Allemand, both of Arnaudville, according to Louisiana State Police Troop I.

State Police began investigating the crash around 9 p.m.

The preliminary investigation

revealed that a 2010 Mazda 3, driven by Kent Allemand, was traveling north on La. Highway 347. For reasons still under investigation, the Mazda traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck a tree.

Both Kent and Angel Allemand were unrestrained at the time of the crash, suffered

™ fatal injuries, and were pronounced dead at the scene. The crash remains under investigation.

Crash

While not all crashes are survivable, wearing seatbelts correctly can significantly reduce chances of severe injury, state police said. Ensure that the seatbelt is correctly positioned across hips, chest, and shoulders, and make sure that children are securely fastened in appropriate car seats.

These measures are crucial for arriving at your destination safely. Additionally, distracted and inattentive driving remains a leading cause of crashes in Louisiana.

Adhering to these simple precautions and following all traffic laws can significantly enhance road safety, according to a police statement.
