Baja St. Martin

The levee is freshly mowed. Most yards along Hwy 70 are mowed. Including mine. It smells wonderful!

Food for Seniors was March 27. The next Bingo for Seniors will be April 1 and no, that’s not a joke.

The weather is beautiful these days. Cool nights, warm days I actually turned my AC on once for a few afternoon hours. Rain is forecast for this weekend and it seems to be getting cloudier this afternoon.

Have you ever played Wordle? Or Strands? Or Connections? I haven’t been as faithful a player lately as I once was, but I try to keep up. I usually get the mystery five letter Wordle word-usually - but connections baffles me a lot. Here you have to get 4 words with something in common - a connection - and it is very vague. Not something easy like all colors, or all edible or all in a certain movie.

Strands is like a jigsaw puzzle where you connect letters forming a word that somehow has a relation to the daily cue. My granddaughter tells me Strands is the game she goes to when she can’t do the other two. I find it frustrating. Anyway, all three are fun games if you like word puzzles.

The Purple Martins are busily stuffing their house with nesting matter. I do so enjoy hearing their distinctive chirps every morning and evening. A neighbor friend has 4 Martin houses on his seawall and not a single bird.

Food for Seniors went well today. Almost everyone remembered to come and they were in and out quickly. Russell Courville brought two trustees as usual who were very nice guys. Makes you wonder what they did to be in jail.

According to the local Assumption Pioneer newspaper, the majority of arrests are for drugs, frequently accompanied by DWI charges. And there are way too many for my small area.

Have you ever watched To Catch a Smuggler on the NatGeo channel? I realize that what is shown is for TV but I often wonder how many suitcases the authorities cut and/or tear apart and how many turn out to be just ordinary luggage. And why do some people allow themselves to be televised as authorities search their luggage? Are they asked?

Same for Hoarders! If I were a hoarder (not just a lousy housekeeper) I wouldn’t want the world to see the mess I lived in! They must get big bucks for letting us all see.

Again, I was awake at 3 am. Anybody got any ideas? Could it be the potato chips I ate?? Or cheese strips? I’m not much of a meat eater but I do like cheese and figure I could use the protein. I’ve also switched to Almond milk which tastes pretty good even though it does require getting used to.

I plan to spend some time tomorrow studying up on the amendments for the March 29 ballot. I know less than usual this time. And even less about the issue of making Lower St. Martin become a part of St. Mary parish. That seems like a good idea but I don’t know any details. Maybe if we were closer to our parish constituents, we’d get more attention, servicewise. Like a library. Help for seniors. Better water supply.

By the way, whatever is being built along Hwy 70 just before the Stephensville exit (coming from my way) is pretty impressive. Tall pillars to keep a structure raised off the ground are abundant. Maybe another site for expensive homes? Maybe a business?

Thank goodness tomorrow is Friday. I’m pooped!!!!!!
