Breaux Bridge - Six Breaux Bridge Police officers received promotions at the April meeting of the City Council.
At the request of Chief of Police Albert “Buz” LeBlanc, Telecia Chattos, Andrew Wilson, Erik LeDoux, Ryan Savoie, Traven LeBlanc, and Zachary Williams were promoted to the rank of Sergeant.
Mayor Ricky Calais informed the council that the City collected $566,327 from taxes in March. The amount was $28,313 more than March 2024.
“Compared to last year, we are up maybe a couple of thousand dollars, so we are basically flat,” Calais said.
The council also discussed 2025 millage rates and the possibility of introducing a new ordinance to rezone the property along Grand Point Avenue and Berard Street to C1.
Funds that had been slated for signage along Interstate 10 were repurposed for drainage along Gloria Drive.
