Cecilia sweeps BBHS Tiger Relays boys’, girls’ crowns

Breaux Bridge – Cecilia High School claimed both the boys’ and girls’ titles at the Breaux Bridge Tiger Relays on Wednesday, and Breaux Bridge was a close second in the boys’ meet.

Cecilia finished with 176 points in the boys’ meet with Breaux Bridge second with 163 points. Opelousas was third (62 points), followed by North Central (43), Teurlings Catholic (33), St. Martinville (30) and Pineville (29).

The Cecilia girls cruised to 200 points to win the team title, with Opelousas second at 108 points. Teurlings (78) Pineville (55), Breaux Bridge (50), North Central (45) and St. Martinville (13) followed.

The Bulldogs had a strong throwing in the boys’ throws to open the field competition, winning all three events and claiming third place in the shot put, fourth in the discus and fifth place in the javelin.

Corey Sassau of Cecilia won both the discus (127 feet, 3 inches) and shot put (43-7) and Nathan Macon of CHS won the javelin (147-0).

Hayden Heard was third for CHS in the shot put (38-4). Kade Primeaux was fourth in the discus (84-10) and Conner Helaire was fifth in the javelin (124-7).

Jermaine Davis and Ellis Stewart also had first-place finishes in the field events for the Bulldogs. Davis won the triple jump (43-5), was second in the long jump (21-10) and was fifth in the high jump (5-6).

Stewart won the long jump (22-3). Jayden Lewis of Cecilia was fifth in the triple jump (395).

In the running events, Brent Gordon Jr. won the 300-meter hurdles in 39.78 seconds and the 110-meter hurdles in 15.47 seconds. Braylon Calais was second in the 110 hurdles (15.51) and third in the 300 hurdles (41.35).

The Bulldogs also won both the 4x100 relay (43.31 seconds) and the 4x200 relay (1:30.26) and finished second in the 4x400 (3:35.16).

Lee Landry placed second in the 400 (51.10) for the Bulldogs and Da’Kelian Chevalier was sixth (54.76).

Isaiah Greene finished third in the 800 meters (2:09.90) and Tyler Vicknair was sixth (2:21.12).

Gavin Guidry was third in the 3200 meters (11:03.35) and Reuben Burgess was fourth (13:08.71). Guidry also placed fourth in the 1600 (4:58.05) and Ben Taylor was sixth (5:36.19).

Shaquille Sanders finished fifth in the 200-meter dash for the Bulldogs (23.52).

For the Lady Bulldogs, London Thi won the javelin at 90 feet, 2 inches and the discus at 123-2 and was second in the shot put at 32-1.

Teammate Kassi Martin won the shot put at 32-10.

Isabella Johnson won the pole vault at 7-6 and was third in the high jump (4-2).

Megan Girod was second in the javelin at 75-8. Layla McGee was second in the discus at 102-0.

Laney Hill was second in the triple jump (30-9) and fourth in the long jump (15-5).

In the running events, Nikki Devillier won the 300-meter hurdles for CHS in 53.03 seconds and Jayla Rossyion won the 400 meters in 1:02.52.

Devillier also finished second in the 100-meter hurdles (16.54) with Synae Howard third in the 100 hurdles (17.00) and the 300 hurdles (54.59).

Lundyn Girard finished second in the 100-meter dash (13.46) and fifth in the 200 (28.31).

Da’Lenza Williams was second in the 200-meter dash in 27.84 seconds. Girard was fifth (28.31).

Caydah Hardy was second in the 1600 (6:17.82) and the 3200 (14:00.85). Kali Robin was sixth in the 3200 (16:20.11).

Brailey Brasseaux was sixth in the 800 (3:02.56).

Cecilia won the girls’ 4x400 relay in 4:22.59 and the 4x800 in 12:10.48 and was second in the 4x100 in 51.31 seconds.

Breaux Bridge

Christian Camacho and Patrick Godeaux of Breaux Bridge finished 1-2 in both the boys’ 1600-meter run and 3200-meter run for Breaux Bridge.

Camacho won the 1600 in 4:53.43 and the 3200 in 10:38.56. Godeaux was second in the 1600 (4:53.53) and the 3200 (10:43.24.

Ja’Kyron Wallace of BBHS won the 400 meters in 50.71 seconds and Justin James was fifth in the 400 (53.33) and sixth in the 300 hurdles (49.90).

Ethan Comb of Breaux Bridge finished second in the 800 (2:08.68) and Raylen Drake was fourth (2:10.88).

Jaboryan John was second in the 200-meter dash (22.59), just 0.03 seconds behind winner Zackeus Malveax of Opelousas (22.56). John also was third in the 100-meter dash (11.38 seconds) and Kai Anderson was fourth (11.70).

Breaux Bridge won the 4x400 relay in 3:30.46 and the 4x800 in 9:30.25.

The Tigers were second in the 4x200 (1:31.70) and third in the 4x100 (44.81).

Josiah Armentor of BBHS won the pole vault at 10 feet, 7 inches and teammate Gentry Blanchard was second at 8 feet.

Gavin Lasseigne was second in the javelin at 143-9.

Jaden Broussard finished third in the triple jump for the Tigers at 40-1.

Dakowen Celestine was third in the high jump at 5-8 and sixth in the long jump at 191.

William Keys was third in the discus at 92-10 and Carsyn Simoneaux was fourth at 84-10.

Jylon Bourda finished fifth in the shot put at 34-7.
