On Friday, April 4, 2025, St. Martin Parish Farm Bureau held a special event to recognize the invaluable contributions of farmers and ranchers across the parish. Over 150 community members gathered for the inaugural St. Martin Parish Farm Bureau Agriculture Appreciation event.
In addition to the St. Martin Parish Farm Bureau Board, the Women’s Leadership Committee as well as the Young Farmers and Ranchers collectively organized the event. The event featured presentations by Representative Chad Boyer, Senator Blake Miguez, and St. Martin Parish President Pete Delcambre. Each speaker highlighted the importance of agriculture to the local economy and community.
The Louisiana Farm Bureau Federation also shared insights on how the Farm Bureau is working to support farmers and ranchers, emphasizing their commitment to advocacy, education, and resources that benefit the community.
The St. Martin Parish Farm Bureau Distinguished Service Award was presented to Michael “Allen” Theriot, of Catahoula. He devoted nearly five decades of his life to farming sugarcane in St. Martin Parish. Theriot was honored for his dedication to agriculture in St. Martin parish.
The event highlighted the agriculture system of St. Martin parish and those who dedicate their time to insuring a bountiful harvest. During the event, Mike Melancon, St. Martin Parish Farm Bureau Parish President, said “Hopefully this is the beginning of a tradition that continues in the future.”
