Leesville – It is with great sadness that the family of Edna Marie (Wiltz) Benoit announces her passing after battling pancreatic cancer. Edna was a Child of God, a faithful Catholic and is now at his side. She was born August 13, 1948, in Lafayette. She was raised in Parks. Her and her husband raised their children in New Iberia and made Leesville their home. In death, as in life, Edna will be honored and celebrated for her accomplishments. She is part of the 1967 graduating class of Breaux Bridge High. Edna is survived four siblings, Stanley Wiltz, Earline Dupuy, Louise Fahd and Hazel Dauphine; husband, Clifton Joseph Benoit; six children, Charlotte, Terry, Christy, Christine, Aaron and Sean; 12 grandchildren, Michelle, Ravyn, Michael, McKenzie, Colby, Samantha, Mia, Tatum, Aurora, Sean Jr. and Kaylee Ariella; and two great-grandchildren, Ramzey and Rose. Edna is preceded in death by her parents, Daniel Wiltz and Rose Melancon Wiltz; and four siblings, Harry Lee Wiltz, Clarence Joseph Wiltz, Francis Wiltz and Suzanne Wiltz. “….Some suffering has no purpose other than to lead a person to love God more ardently for himself alone and so discover the ultimate peace and freedom.” In celebration, her family hosted visitation on Thursday, September 6, 2018, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a Rosary at 6 p.m. at Labby Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral Services were Friday, September 7, 2018, at 10 a.m. at Saint Michaels The Archangel Catholic Church. Burial followed at the Central Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home in Leesville, Louisiana.
