Breaux Bridge – Walter Glenn Soileau, 69, and three members of his family have been arrested by St. Martin Sheriff’s deputies as a result of an investigation launched in August.
The investigation began when the owners of a local business reported that they suspected employees of embezzling company funds. It was discovered that Jean Soileau, 38, and Kendra Duplechain Soileau, 38, had illegally diverted money into their personal accounts through a variety of schemes.
It was also found that Breaux Bridge attorneys W. Glenn Soileau, 69, and son Jacques Pierre Soileau, 39, had paid fees related to bodily injury lawsuits to Jean Soileau instead of the employer. Other undocumented transactions by Jean and Kendra Sioleau were uncovered as well.
On Oct. 3 Jacques, Jean and Kendra Duplechain Soileau were arrested and charged with 14 counts each of criminal conspiracy and theft by fraudulent means of over $25,000. Kendra Duplechain Soileau was also charged with one count of computer tampering.
On Oct. 4, Glenn Soileau turned himself in and was charged with 14 counts of criminal conspiracy and theft by fraudulent means. He had been charged last March with pandering, prostitution and obstruction of justice after allegations he was operating a prostitution and drug operation from a rented hotel room in Lafayette.
The former Ward 4/Breaux Bridge City Court judge had served six months in a federal correctional facility in 1997 after pleading guilty to violations of federal migratory bird hunting regulations.
