Henderson area business owners working together

Henderson area business owners working together
The Henderson Area Merchants Association (HAMA) has been working with the St. Martin Parish Tourist Commission and St. Martin Economic Development Authority (SMEDA), meeting every month, to help promote local businesses in the Henderson/Cecilia/Nina/Grand Anse areas. At the December meeting the group unveiled a tourist map with listings of local businesses and services offered in the area. Members discussed options of advertising their businesses. Jennifer Casanova, HAMA member, contacted the State Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) about the missing signs at the I-10 West on-ramp and how long would Henderson Hwy/LA 352 be closed again to install a box culvert. DOTD officials replied that the signs that were damaged have been reordered and will be installed as soon as they are available. The contractor advised DOTD that LA 352/Henderson Hwy would be closed for approximately one week to allow a crane, which would need to be parked in the roadway, to install the culvert. Each monthly meeting has been well attended. The Henderson area businesses and concerned citizens have come together to promote not only their own businesses but every business in the area.
