St. Martinville – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 22, 2019, at Notre Dame Catholic Church for Winfield Henry Ledet, 85, who passed away on Wednesday, February 13, 2019.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the church from 7 a.m. until time of service on Friday.
A rosary will be prayed at 9 a.m. on Friday.
Rev. Michael Sucharski, SVD will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Readers will be Helen Thibeaux and Savanna Sam. Gift bearers will be Juliette Spencer and Kyzin Spencer.
Interment will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery in St. Martinville.
Winfield was born February 9, 1934, in St. Martinville. He was employed at Pearl River High School in St. Tammany Parish for 46 years as a Social Studies teacher. Winfield was a devout Catholic and parishioner of Notre Dame Catholic Church. He was a member of many organizations, rewarded for many accomplishments, and remained involved in his community.
He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his brother, Malcolm Ledet; sister-in-law, Dorothy Ledet; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Theresa Gardner Ledet Sr.; brothers, Albert Ledet Jr. and Norman Ledet Sr.; sisters, Mary Theresa Ledet Spencer and Helen Ledet Mathews; niece, Astasia Ledet Shamlin; nephews, Gabriel Ledet, Brandon Boudreaux and Scott Mathews; brothers-in-law, Wilbert Mathews and James Spencer; and sister-in-law, Jean Ledet.
Pallbearers will be Craig LaMott Jr., Albert Ledet III, Norman Ledet Jr., Jerold Mathews, Daylan Spencer and Deontre Spencer.
Honorary pallbearers will be Malcolm Ledet, Ross Ratliff, Leander Williams, Donald Stewart, Ronny Theriot, Dave Theriot, Calvin Thibeaux, Raymond Mathews, Jimmy Whitaker, James Alexander, Craig Prosper, Dennis Alexander, Douglas Ambroise, Anthony Thibeaux and Clim Yancy.
