Flooding closes roads in Lower St. Martin

Flooding closes roads in Lower St. Martin
The St. Martin Sheriff’s Office has announced that, effective immediately and until further notice, Four Mile Bayou, Adell Edna and Landry roads in Lower St. Martin Parish are closed to all vehicular traffic except for residents who reside on those roads. Drivers are reminded that attempting to go around barricades, ignoring warning signs or driving through standing water on the roadway can lead to deadly consequences. Today (Wednesday) will be the last day for distribution of pre-filled sand bags from 8 a.m. to 70 p.m. in Lower St. Martin. Self-service sand bagging will continue to be available but residents are reminded that they need to bring their own shovels in order to fill them. Parish President Chester Cedars asked residents to not dispose of their sandbags at the end of this current flood concern due to the possibility of a flood threat remaining through the end of May.
