Breaux Bridge – A Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 28, 2019, at Bethlehem Baptist Church for Marge “Marjorie” Galentine, 85, who passed away on Friday, September 20, 2019, at The Carpenter House St. Joseph Hospice.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Bethlehem Baptist Church from 7 a.m. until 10 a.m. on Saturday.
Interment will follow at Bethlehem Baptist Cemetery in Breaux Bridge.
Marge was a Head Start teacher and supervisor for over 30 years. She loved working with children and meeting them later in life and witnessing their progress and accomplishments in life. Marge enjoyed working in her flower beds, watching her soaps, especially the Y&R, cooking, singing in the church choir, and most of all, caring for people who were in need.
She will be sadly missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her sons, Clifton Galentine Jr. and wife Anita of Lafayette and Clifford Galentine and wife Gwendolyn of Breaux Bridge; daughters, Sylvia Egland and husband Floyd of Breaux Bridge, Lelia Robinson and husband Carl of New Orleans, and Lena Celestine and husband Randy of Albuquerque, N.M.; 14 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; and her sister-in-law, Bobby Lewis of Metairie.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clifton Galentine Sr.; her parents, Cornelius Lewis Jr. and Mildred Sylvester Lewis; sister, Mabel Lewis Batiste; brother, Philip Lewis; maternal grandparents, Alfred and Lelia Sylvester; and paternal grandparents, Cornelius and Emily “Alex” Lewis.
