
New Iberia – Cecilia native Erin “E.J.” Blanchard was crowned Queen Sugar LXXVIII during the 78th annual Sugar Cane Festival celebrated here this past weekend.
A graduate of Cecilia High School and the 21-year-old daughter of Al and Claire Blanchard, Erin is attending Louisiana State University where she is a senior majoring in Agriculture Education, Extension and Evaluation. She is a member of the LSU Army ROTC works part-time at Precision Firearms and Indoor Range and LSU AgCenter’s Botanical Gardens and has undergone Army training at Fort Shafter, Hawaii and Fort Knox, Kentucky.
She has earned Dean’s List honors for three semesters at LSU and is a member of the National Society of Pershing Riflemen, FFA, Ducks Unlimited, Louisiana Cattlemen’s Association and Agriculture Teachers Association, the National Association of Agricultural Educators and serves as a lector at Christ the King Catholic Church.
She represented St. Martin Parish in the queen’s competition of the Sugar Cane Festival.
