Martinville – A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10 a.m. on Monday, February 22, 2021, at Martin de Tours Catholic Church for Wiltz Joseph Bienvenue Sr., 81, who passed away on Wednesday, February 17, 2021. Visiting hours were observed at the funeral home from 2 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Sunday and continued on Monday from 7 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. A rosary wase prayed at 7 p.m. on Sunday. Rev. Michael Champagne officiated at the Funeral Mass. Interment followed at Michael Cemetery in Martinville. Wiltz was a parishioner of Martin de Tours Catholic Church and a member of the Choir, Knights of Columbus, Martinville Youth Group, and the American Legion. He was currently employed with the City of Martinville and prior to that, he was retired from Chevron Oil and Gas. Wiltz was an avid Saints fan, he loved cutting his grass, and sitting in his recliner watching TV. He enjoyed every moment spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Wiltz will be remembered for his faithful devotion to God, his church, and his family. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Pearl Champagne Bienvenue of Breaux Bridge; two daughters, Lisa (Mel) Bertrand of Coteau Holmes and Claire (David “Catfish”) Jones of Parks; son, Wiltz “Joey” (Sheri) Bienvenue of Carencro; grandchildren, Cody, Kristen, Kayley and Bailey Bertrand, Kathryn and McKenzie Bienvenue, Tyler Jade (Jesse) Vandermolen, Tyler “Brother” (Megan) Bienvenue, and Dru (Hannah) Bourque; and his great-grandchildren, Annalise “Anna” and Parker Bienvenue, Arkady Capritto, and Stella and James Vandermolen. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis Gilbert and Noellis Romero Bienvenue; brother, Willis (Charlene) Bienvenue; four sisters, Hazel (Willie) Guilbeaux, Dorothy (Preston) Martin, Willa (Wilson Sr.) Romero, Una Mae (Percy Sr.) Hoffpauir and Shirley (Jimmy) Dupuy; stepbrother, Dorris Bienvenue; and stepsister, Loris B. Menard. Pallbearers were Cody and Tyler Bienvenue, Buck Barras, Dru Bourque, Willis Bienvenue and Chris Dupuy, DVM. Honorary pallbearers werbe Al Cormier, Paul Maraist, Ivy Perioux, Mel Bertrand, Matt Bertrand and Gilbert Hoffpauir. The family would like to extend their gratitude to all the physicians and staff of UHC and Martin Hospital for their care and compassion that was given during his illness. Donations in his memory may be made to the Community of Jesus Christ Crucified, 103 Railroad Ave., Martinville, LA 70582. Pellerin Funeral Home of Martinville was in charge of arrangements. (Pd.Adv.)
