The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home in St. Martinville from 9 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.

A rosary will be prayed at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Veronica was a strong-willed woman who had a witty personality that brought unexpected laughter to all. She loved cooking, family gatherings, caring for her plants, tending to her birds, and going to the casino. Veronica will be remembered for her generous heart, love for her family, and her warm and beautiful smile. 

She is survived by her husband, Juan Porras; sons, John Belmontes, Jeffrey Belmontes, Jesus Belmontes, Jason Andrew Porras and Jacob Alexander Porras; brothers, Emiliano Niave and Guadalupe Niave; and her sisters, Clara Niave and Maria Niave.

She was preceded in death by her father, Emiliano Niave; and her mother, Socorro Torres.
