Lee Allen Stelly
Lee honorably served his country in the United States Army and spent 28 months in Japan during the Korean conflict. He was an arborist who started the company, Trees of Lafayette. Lee enjoyed gardening, dancing, golf, fishing, hunting, and playing with his great-grandchildren.
He took great pride in winning pool tournaments among fellow veterans, boiling crawfish, and cooking spicy gumbo. Lee was a humble man who will be remembered for his kindness and great sense of humor.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Vondenstein Stelly; three daughters, Debra Rote (Paul), Linda Susan Adams (Roger) and Dawn Stelly; four grandchildren, Amy Checkan (Geoff), Morgan Rote, Jennifer Rote and Edward Schultz (Logan); three great-grandchildren, Avery Checkan, Grayson Checkan and Jack Checkan; and his
sister, Beverly Boudreaux.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacque Albert Stelly and Anna Savoy Stelly; his first wife, Mary Irene Stelly; sisters, Elba Stelly, Theresa Stelly, Regina Pellerin, Lela Stelly, Rena Guidry, Mabel Hayes and Shirley Daigle; and brothers, Nickes, Jacque, Laly, J.B. and Alex Stelly.
Pellerin Funeral Home, 211 Berard St., Breaux Bridge, LA 70517 (337-332-2111) is in charge of arrangements.
