Anastasia obtained her early education in St. Martinville at Notre Dame Elementary and Adam Carlson High School before enrolling in Southern University, from which she obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in 1970.
She then moved to Schenectady, New York and lived with her Uncle Ulysse Etienne Jr. and his family until late 1971 when she married the love of her life, Essex Lee Marshall.
Anastasia moved to St. Louis, Mo. with Essex, and they had a wonderful life together that lasted almost 51 years, until her death. During this union, she became the loving mother of Brian Essex Marshall and the godmother of Shane and Sheridan Utley.
Moving to St. Louis allowed Anastasia to begin a career at McDonnell Douglas Aerospace Co. that later was acquired by The Boeing Aircraft Company, which lasted all of her working years. She earned a Master of Business Administration Degree from Lindenwood University while working at Boeing Aircraft.
Anastasia was an active member of the Benevolence Committee of the Ferguson Heights Church of Christ in the Pantry, Bible Study Fellowship and enjoyed working with the Assistance League of St. Louis, an all-volunteer organization. She was an outstanding wife, mother and friend. In her free time you could always find her reading. Anastasia was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Anastasia is survived by her devoted husband, Essex L. Marshall; her cherished son, Brian E. Marshall; dear sisters, Iris (Arthur) Williams and Marthaleen (Curtis) Cooper; loving brothers, Eldridge (Gwendolyn) Etienne and Glenn Ray (Valerie) Etienne.
She was preceded in death by her father, Johnny Etienne Sr.; her mother, Hazel D. Etienne; and her brother, Johnny Etienne Jr.
